Is an Oil or Serum more Hydrating for Dry Skin?

At Nakin we often receive messages from customers wondering if a face oil or serum is better when it comes to hydrating dry skin, and actually both of them can be great. Good face products like our Nakin Performance Face Serum and Revitalising Face Oil can both do wonders for dry skin when it comes to hydration, comforting and healing skin concerns. They are both lovely for dry skin but in different ways. The serum gives a deeper hydration to the face and neck, whereas the oil is more comforting and is exceptionally calming to irritated skin, which is common in dry skin types.

Our best treatment for hydration is the Performance Face Serum which has a lovely lotion consistency and is filled with a combination of plant actives and extracts, plus hyaluronic acid for a full skin treatment. Or you could use our Revitalising Face Oil which is really nourishing and calming for dry skin. Both of them can be used together for intensive skin rejuvenation, or just one of them followed by one of our moisturisers.

At Nakin all of our products are designed to give hydration to skin, and they are all filled with such great moisturising ingredients such as plant oils and hyaluronic acid. Everything in the range can be found here, along with the serum and face oil.

When it comes to hydrating the skin, face oils and serums serve distinct roles, but each brings unique benefits. Face oils are typically fattier in consistency and are formulated to intensely nourish and calm skin, plus help to lock in moisture. They are excellent for providing healing hydration and rich nourishment, especially for dry or mature skin types. On the other hand, serums are more lotion like and contain concentrated active ingredients that penetrate deeper into the skin's layers. They are designed to deliver targeted treatment, such as boosting hydration, brightening, or addressing fine lines with ingredients like hyaluronic acid or peptides.

Oils and serums should be applied before moisturising to allow the active ingredients to penetrate deeper into the skin. They can also be used in combination with face creams that are applied afterwards.

It is worth noting that not all face oils and serums are created equal. It's important to choose products like ours that are suitable for your requirements and address multiple skincare concerns.

Overall, both face oils and serums play important roles in achieving healthy, hydrated skin. By understanding their differences and choosing the right products for your skin, you can reap the benefits of both to achieve a radiant complexion.
