Spring and summer are the seasons for new beginnings, change, and rejuvenation. And what better way to embrace this than through beauty trends? Every year, the beauty industry introduces new products, techniques, and styles that set the tone for the upcoming season. From glowing skin to bright pops of colour, there's something for everyone to try. In this post, we'll explore the top spring and summer beauty trends.
GLOWING SKIN
One of the most popular trends for spring and summer every year is glowing skin. This trend focuses on achieving a natural, radiant complexion that looks healthy and hydrated. To achieve this look, many people are turning to our Nakin face products with ingredients like hyaluronic acid and seaweed. These ingredients help to plump and brighten the skin, giving it a radiant glow. Makeup-wise, less is more when it comes to this trend. Instead of heavy foundations, opt for good skincare products instead. Finish off with a touch of highlighter on the high points of your face for that coveted lit-from-within look.
SPARKLES
This year there is a new trend, normally seen in the warmer months, but very welcomed. Sparkles are always a big style for Autumn & Winter Fashion and Beauty, but this year they are big for Spring & Summer too. It works nicely, as who doesn’t love a bit of sparkle in their life. Shimmering eye make-up was everywhere, and all over the top four fashion weeks of London, Paris, Milan and New York. It also translated into bold coloured stone accessories on faces, jewellery, hair decorations and clothes.
Dries Van Noten placed stick on jewels to model's eyes at their show. It’s not an everyday look, even if you keep the rest of your make-up minimal. But we love the idea for an easy way to add glamour for a BBQ, party or evening out. Apply to the same areas you would apply eyeshadow, or all around eyes above the lashes, and below lashes if preferred. Opt for a few small clear gemstone jewels for a subtle minimal look, or go the full hog with lots of coloured jewels, perfect for mid-summer, or to co-ordinate with outfits. We especially love this look, as the jewels can be reused and are eco-friendly, if using face glue to apply them. For a more delicate look, we love the make-up that Alberta Ferretti showcased - with subtle glittering eye make-up on the eyelids, and not much else, except dewy skin.
GOODBYE CONTOURING
If you have spent the last few years wondering how to do contouring properly and to suit your face shape, then we have some very good news. Contouring is no longer big and instead we have a welcome return of blusher. Think English rose, so apply to the apples of the cheeks and blend outwards.
Lots of designers went for a barely there make-up look on the catwalks. Balmain showcased a no make-up make-up look, and subtle glossy lips. There were lots of brushed up eyebrows and nude lips, seen on the likes of The Blonds. We absolutely love the Rodarte show which took a soft floaty dreamy look, with barely there make-up and fresh glowing skin. Or Etro’s ultra-low-key make-up. Glowing, fresh natural skin was seen everywhere. Nakin can help achieve fresh glowing skin, with our stunning natural skincare, a special collection of face cleansers, moisturisers and treatments. The range uses enhancing plant actives to beautify naturally, and without harsh chemicals.
HAIR
Accessories for hair are big this season - especially hairclips, scarfs and headbands. We love accessories to finish and lift any look. Headscarf’s are a new essential, and we are taking inspiration from the Temperley catwalk show, which exhibited a low plait, with a patterned scarf all around the nape and sides, and then tied at the top of the head.
Cuts include the all-time favourite long hair, plus bobs with fringes. It’s a brave move for many, but if you have ever fancied going short, then now is the time. Curly hair is cool this season, from tight spirals to a big and bouncy blow dry, so go au naturel and embrace those waves.
It’s pretty much anything goes with hair styling this season. Givenchy went for natural, subtle, loose curly waves. Miu Miu used a modern 60’s look, with a small beehive and headband. Julien McDonald went for a middle parting and straight hair, but a much more modern version than the 90’s look. The parting and hair were not poker straight, instead the style had a softer finish. Loewe showed a casual low pony tail, accessorised with a thin leather ribbon bow. As well as looking good it’s easy to do; simple brush hair really well and then loosely pull back into a smooth low pony tail, finish with a single bow. Or for a bold look go for cream and red roses in the hair, aka Dolce & Gabbana. Be as daring as you like with the number of flowers, and the arrangement.
We hope that you have found our post useful. We always try to remember that it does not matter what the actual trend is, instead it is all about feeling happy and confident in our own unique look and style.
