Why Is My Skin Dry Even When I Moisturise?

Why Is My Skin Dry Even When I Moisturise?

Lots of us still have dry skin even after we moisturise and there are usually two reasons for this, either we naturally have a very dry skin type, or our skin is dehydrated. There are lots of other potential contributing factors, such as the type of moisturiser being used, but dry skin is usually at the heart of the issue.

Why is My Skin Dry Even After I Moisturise?

If your skin is still dry after you moisturise then finding a good face cream is essential to helping your dry skin, although this can be harder than it seems. At Nakin we produce our natural anti-ageing face products to be as natural as possible, however, many face creams have lots of synthetic ingredients in them such as silicones and PEGs, which give the impression of hydration by leaving a coating on skin. At Nakin though we believe that natural hydrating ingredients are much better at healing and improving dry and dehydrated skin, even if it might not feel like it on application. Of course, everyone’s skin is different and what feels perfect to one person might be different to another.

An option that we always recommend for customers with very dry and dehydrated skin is to use a hydrating cleanser like our Advanced Cleansing Milk, and then layer up face products. We have our Performance Face Serum, Eye Cream Complex and Revitalising Face Oil which are all excellent for hydrating dry skin naturally. An eye cream is always recommended in a routine, and you could then use just the oil or serum, or both under a moisturiser in the day and evening, or use one in the morning and one in the evening. They both offer a more comprehensive routine, and more anti-ageing benefits for the face and neck, as well as excellent hydration plus comfort. Then apply our Active Dew Face Cream as your moisturiser. You can find everything in our full range here.

Causes of Dry Skin After Moisturising

Dry skin, even after moisturising, can often be attributed to a variety of underlying factors. One common reason is the use of a moisturiser that is not suitable for your skin type or does not provide sufficient hydration. For instance, lightweight or synthetic creams may not be effective enough if you have very dry skin, and you may benefit more from natural hydrating creams. Another possible cause is environmental factors, such as cold weather, low humidity, or exposure to central heating, which can strip the skin of its natural moisture. Additionally, over-cleansing or using harsh skincare products can disrupt the skin’s barrier, preventing it from retaining moisture effectively. It’s also important to consider hydration from within—insufficient water intake can impact your skin's ability to stay hydrated. To address persistent dryness, think about all of these factors, evaluating your skincare routine may also help uncover the root cause and provide tailored solutions.

How Our Products Can Help Your Very Dry Skin

Our range of natural skincare products are designed to provide hydration and nourishment, making them ideal for combating dry skin. Infused with plant-based ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, seaweed extract, and shea butter, each product works to replenish moisture and restore skin's natural barrier. The Active Dew Face Cream, for instance, delivers long-lasting hydration, while the Advanced Cleansing Milk gently cleanses without stripping the skin of essential oils. Then we have our treatments to give skin extra care. Our products are free from harsh chemicals like parabens, ensuring they are suitable for sensitive and dry skin types. By incorporating us into your daily routine, you can achieve softer, smoother, and more radiant skin.
